Amps Tone

What is the best way to really find out how Guitar Players get their signature tone?
Often times we see what amps and guitars artists endorse via. magazines and sponsors, how do you find out what they actually use on stage and in the studio? Like Billy Gibbons of ZZ top. How does he get that tone on say Rythmeen and so on?
you can try www.guitargeek.com, it will give you the stage setup they use, however, i don’t know of anything that will show you the exact setting they put their equipment on for an exact sound or tone.

Amps! $16.63 Electric guitar players can choose from a library full of guitar books, but comparatively little has been written about the other 50% of the electric guitar: the amplifier. This book takes a giant step toward redressing the balance, providing the first overall view of amp-dom, including: how amps work, profiles of the major manufacturers, ‘transistor dinosaurs’ and their place in amp history, reissues vs. vintage amps, and troubleshooting. Terms are defined in the margin as they are introduced, and plenty of photos and diagrams illuminate the text. |

Carl Martin AC Tone Dual Overdrive Pedal $258.3 The AC-Tone pedal offers 2 channels of overdrive, voiced alike for preset usage, and also gives you a clean channel with a boost of up to 20dB. The overdrive is low to medium gain for a sweet and crisp tone with mellow midrange reminiscent of the old TopBoost amps from the late 60's. The 2 channels range from a mild breakup to a healthy overdriven sound. One channel can be used for slightly chimey breakup, and the other channel set for more overdrive, with saturated mids and drive. Lots of flexibility means you'll always have the sounds to meet your needs. The AC-Tone pedal has a built in regulated (+-12V) power supply, to secure the necessary headroom for great tone. |

DiMarzio Tone Zone Pickup Pink F-Space $69.95 The vowel-like open wah-wah feel of the PAF Pro and FRED is combined with tremendous midrange and bass for a sound that really kicks hard. Because the lows, mids, and highs are all boosted, using a Tone Zone feels like cranking up an extra set of tone controls. It adds further dimension to the sound of your amp – that elusive edge that can make a good-sounding rig into a great-sounding one. Notes seem to get bigger after they're picked, and burn hard as they sustain. It's the right stuff to wake up your amp. Ballsy, aggressive tone has plenty of drive in all the right frequencies, abundant gain to push preamps and power amps, and sensitivity to pick attack that gets the most out of any style from metal to blues. Hot enough to qualify as a high-output pickup but with a wider dynamic range. Hard picking will produce a lot of power and softer picking will be much cleaner and quieter. |
