Pottery Ocarina
simple question about pottery?
i want to make an ocarina which is a small shell like instrument out of clay but i dont know where i can go to fire it because i dont have a kiln. any ideas?
a) check out yellow pages for ceramic studios in your place. Phone and ask what their price for firing is.
b) check out local schools, some may have kilns. Also check universities if there are any in your town. Look if they have a ceramics program.
c) check out art centers or art clubs. If they offer ceramics classes they have a kiln or know which kiln they can use.
d) I haven’t yet seen anybody do this, but you could place an ad into craigs list maybe in an art section, asking if somebody will fire your ocarina for you, maybe for a small fee.
e) if you live in the countryside and can make a fire you could look up the option of pit firing.
