Toyota sales suspension: is it safe to buy a RAV4 made in Japan?
On Toyota’s own site, they state that they are suspending sales of 2009-2010 RAV4 vehicles. But our dealer says that doesn’t apply to vehicles made in Japan. It seemes to me that Toyota would be shouting from the rooftops if some of their vehicles were safe to buy, so this seems fishy to me. Does anyone know anything???
At this point I would take anything Toyota is saying with a grain of salt. The problem seems to be a design flaw and not a assembly issue so it really doesn’t matter where they were made. News is starting to come out that lower level executives were aware of the pedal issue early on but were too afraid to escalate the issue up to their bosses due to fear of being the bearer of bad news. And now the recall extends to Europe and China – might as well be global – which I suspect will be very soon.

Judging by the thick chugging that Deep Purple pull off as they enter “Highway Star” on this classic 1972 set, this band was of an era that appreciated size in sound. Ritchie Blackmore’s guitar and Jon Lord’s keyboards owned the evenings on the quintet’s Japanese tour, giving the band a front-end density that kept drummer Ian Paice’s snap heavy and loud. On tour in support of the album Machine Hea…

Made in Japan these three simple words conjure playful wit, a delight in detail, formal elegance, and graphic energy. Author of Made in China, Reed Darmon has collected hundreds of images of everyday Japanese design and pop culture ephemera from the past century. Including perfume ads, art deco matchboxes, robot toys, action movie posters, Noh masks, kimono patters, sumo cards, children’s books, household product packages, and much more, the fascinating objects assembled here reveal traditional Japanese artistry and techniques as applied to playfully modern design. A stylish object and graphic essay in one, Made in Japan is an extraordinary glimpse into the heart of Japanese popular culture.
Japan is a nation made up of many islands in the western Pacific Ocean. Over 100 million people live in this small nation of islands. Many live in the countryside, but millions live in crowded cities like Tokyo. Students will learn about the physical features of the landscape and surrounding waters as well as the cultural aspects of the Japanese from old traditions to modern everyday life.
A companion piece to the blockbuster 1972 album, Deep Purple: Made in Japan, Rock Milestones – Deep Purple: Made in Japan offers extremely rare archival footage of the Deep Purple Japanese concerts from which the original record was taken, supplemented by interviews with band members including Ritchie Blackmore. Performances include: Highway Star, Child in Time, The Mule, Space Truckin’, Black Knight, When a Blind Man Cries, Woman from Tokyo, Lazy, Speed King, Hush, and Mandrake Root. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi by former singer Ian Gillan.
